Chelsea are allegedly ready to make a £50m move for Barcelona midfielder Gavi during this summer's transfer window.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a €60m (£50m) move for Barcelona midfielder Gavi during this summer's transfer window.

Gavi has only just signed a new contract with the Catalan giants, extending his deal until June 2030, but he has struggled to secure regular starts in Hansi Flick's first XI this season after returning from a long-term injury.

The 20-year-old is behind Pedri, Marc Casado and Frenkie de Jong when it comes to the positions in central midfield, while Dani Olmo was signed by Barcelona last summer to play the number 10 position.

Gavi has previously been used in a wide area, but Raphinha and Lamine Yamal are automatic picks for Barcelona, and according to Relevo, an exit for Gavi this summer cannot be ruled out.

The report claims that Barcelona need to make a couple of major sales due to their financial situation, ad Gavi is viewed as a player capable of raising a healthy transfer fee during this summer's transfer window.

Barcelona 'open to Gavi sale this summer'

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are keen on Gavi, and the Blues are ready to make a €60m (£50m) move for the Spain international in the upcoming transfer market.

The report claims that the London club are confident of tempting Barcelona, but Paris Saint-Germain are also in the mix, with the French club's head coach Luis Enrique a huge admirer of the Spaniard.

It is claimed that Barcelona would be willing to entertain offers of around €80m (£67m) for Gavi, who has made 135 appearances for the Catalan giants, scoring nine goals and registering 17 assists in the process.

Gavi was absent between November 2023 and September 2024 due to a severe knee injury, and he has since spent a further 25 days on the sidelines this season with fitness issues.

Would Gavi be a good signing for Chelsea?

Gavi's form before his long-term knee injury was exceptional, with the youngster proving to be a vital player for Barcelona, and if he can regain that form, which is entirely possible, then he should become one of the best midfielders in world football.

Despite the recent speculation, it is still difficult to imagine Barcelona being willing to let Gavi leave, but the Catalan outfit have to make some difficult decisions for financial reasons, and Gavi would raise a healthy transfer fee.

If Chelsea can pull the deal off, then it would be a stunning capture, as Gavi is capable of dominating matches with his quick passing, clever movement and appreciation of the football.

The Blues have been incredibly active in the transfer market since their change of ownership, but bringing in Gavi, if that indeed happens this summer, could turn out to be one of their best-ever signings.
