Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League Two clash between Gillingham and Fleetwood Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Gillingham will be bidding to stretch their unbeaten run in League Two to four matches when they host Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night.

The hosts, who are 19th in the League Two table, will enter the contest off the back of a goalless draw with Carlisle United, while 14th-placed Fleetwood suffered a 2-1 defeat to Grimsby Town on Saturday afternoon.

Gillingham boast a record of nine wins, eight draws and 14 defeats from their 31 League Two matches this season, with a total of 35 points leaving them in 19th spot in the table, nine points outside of the relegation zone.

The Gills have not actually been victorious in the fourth tier of English football since the middle of December, but they are unbeaten in their last three matches, sharing the points with Walsall, Crewe Alexandra and Carlisle United.

John Coleman's side drew 0-0 with Carlisle on Saturday, and they now have back-to-back home fixtures against Fleetwood and Morecambe before a trip to Newport County on March 4.

Gillingham have picked up 20 points from their 15 home league matches this season, and they will be welcoming a Fleetwood outfit that have 15 points to show from their 15 away games in League Two during the 2024-25 campaign.

The last two league meetings between these two teams have finished 0-0, including the reverse League Two game back in August.

Fleetwood are unbeaten in their last seven matches against Gillingham dating back to November 2018, but the visitors will enter this match in disappointing form, picking up just two points from their last four games.

Since beating Cheltenham Town 2-0 on February 8, Pete Wild's side have lost to Bromley and Grimsby, in addition to drawing with Tranmere Rovers and AFC Wimbledon, with those results dropping them into 14th position.

The Fishermen were relegated from League One last season, but they are not in the playoff picture at this stage, sitting 11 points behind seventh-placed Crewe Alexandra, so a huge effort would be required to challenge for possible promotion.

Fleetwood have lost three of their last four away matches in League Two, with their last success coming at Salford City in the middle of January, and they have only managed one goal in their last three games on their travels.

Team News

Gillingham have not reported any fresh concerns from their goalless draw with Carlisle on Saturday afternoon.

Jayden Clarke has scored seven times in League Two this season - the midfielder has not started a league fixture since the middle of January, but he could potentially come into the XI for Tuesday's contest.

Joseph Gbode only has one goal to his name this term, but the centre-forward is likely to retain his spot in the final third of the field.

As for Fleetwood, their leading goalscorer Ronan Coughlan remains on the sidelines through injury.

Ryan Graydon has been in strong goalscoring form this season, finding the back of the net on eight occasions, and he will feature in the final third of the field, while there should also be a spot for Louie Marsh.

Shaun Rooney has two goals in 10 appearances for Fleetwood this term, and the 28-year-old will be in the XI, with head coach Wild potentially naming an unchanged side for the clash against Grimsby, including Elliot Bonds.

Gillingham possible starting lineup:
Morris; Hutton, Smith, Ehmer, Gale, Clark; McKenzie, Corness, Little; Clarke, Gbode

Fleetwood Town possible starting lineup:
Lynch; Bennett, Bolton, Wiredu; Rooney, Bonds, Neal, Mayor, Patterson; Marsh, Graydon

We say: Gillingham 0-0 Fleetwood Town

We are not expecting this to be a classic, with Gillingham only scoring 17 home goals this season, but they have conceded just 16, and with Fleetwood being inconsistent on their travels, we are predicting the points will be shared on Tuesday night.
