Man United vs. Newcastle: Predicted Red Devils XI for Premier League contest

Who replaces Ugarte, Fernandes? How Man United could line up against Newcastle

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up in Monday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will have to make at least two changes to his starting side for Monday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will be without the services of both Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte through suspension, with the former sent off against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day, while the latter picked up a milestone yellow card.

Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are injured, but the Red Devils did not suffer any fresh fitness problems in their two-goal defeat at Molineux last time out.

Harry Maguire is being tipped to captain the side in Fernandes' absence, so Matthijs de Ligt may continue on the bench, with the Netherlands international still not yet fully overcoming a recent illness.

Fernandes' absence could open the door for Alejandro Garnacho to make his first start since being dropped from the squad for the Manchester derby, with the Argentina international potentially featuring alongside Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo in attack.

Casemiro, meanwhile, is likely to be the player to benefit from the absence of Ugarte.

Marcus Rashford was once again left out of the squad against Wolves, and it seems unlikely that the England international, who is being heavily linked with a January exit, will be back for the visit of Newcastle on Monday night.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: Onana; Yoro, Maguire, Martinez; Mazraoui, Casemiro, Mainoo, Dalot; Amad, Hojlund, Garnacho
