Journalist Duncan Castles claims that Manchester United are interested in Monaco defender Fode Ballo-Toure.

Manchester United are currently exploring the possibility of signing Monaco defender Fode Ballo-Toure during this summer's transfer window, according to journalist Duncan Castles.

The 23-year-old came through the youth system at Paris Saint-Germain but did not make a first-team appearance for the capital giants before joining Lille in 2017.

Ballo-Toure has been with Monaco since January 2019, making 45 appearances for the principality outfit, including 25 in all competitions during the 2019-20 campaign.

According to Castles, the 20-time English champions are currently tracking the former France Under-21 international, who has a contract with Robert Moreno's team until June 2023.

"The player that Man United are looking at is Fode Ballo-Toure. He's a 23-year-old left-back. He is an exceptionally quick, very powerful player, physically has lots of stamina and strikes me as having a very good profile for English football from a physical perspective," Castles told the Transfer Window Podcast.

"Also, I'm told he's an excellent character, so there's belief that he would transfer well from the French game to the English game and not have as long an adaptation process as some players do when they switch countries."

Chelsea are also believed to be weighing up a summer approach.
